NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT HELP YOU WIN. THIS IS A CONTEST OF SKILL. WINNERS ARE DECIDED BY THE ORDER IN WHICH COMPLETE, CORRECT ENTRIES ARE RECEIVED, NOT BY CHANCE. NO PRE-SAVE, FOLLOW OR SIGNUP IS REQUIRED. OPEN ONLY TO LEGAL RESIDENTS OF THE 50 UNITED STATES AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA WHO ARE 18 OR OLDER (OR THE AGE OF MAJORITY IN THEIR STATE, IF HIGHER). VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
1. Sponsor
The Be Afraid Hunt (the "Hunt") is sponsored by Mainstay Automation LLC, Scottsdale, Arizona, [email protected] ("Sponsor").
The Hunt is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram, Facebook, Meta Platforms, TikTok, YouTube, Google, or X. YouTube is not a sponsor of the Hunt. By entering, you completely release each of them from any responsibility or liability connected with the Hunt. Send questions about the Hunt to Sponsor, not to those platforms.
Anything you post or send in connection with the Hunt must follow the YouTube Community Guidelines and the rules of the platform you use. Entries that do not are disqualified.
2. Who can enter
You must be, at the time you enter: a legal resident of one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia, and 18 or older, or the age of majority in your state if that is higher.
You cannot enter or win if you are: a member of Alien Atmosphere; an employee, contractor or agent of Sponsor; anyone who built, placed or tested the Hunt items or the content they appear in; anyone who learned where any item is from anyone in this list rather than by searching; or an immediate family member (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their spouses) or household member of any of these people.
Void where prohibited or restricted by law.
3. When the Hunt runs
All Hunt times use Arizona time (Mountain Standard Time, MST, UTC-7), with Eastern time shown beside them. Arizona does not change its clock during the Hunt. On Oct 30, 2026, Eastern Daylight Time is three hours ahead of Arizona time. On Nov 13 and Dec 11, 2026, Eastern Standard Time is two hours ahead of Arizona time.
The Hunt starts the moment the official Be Afraid music video goes public on OCT 30, 2026 at 7:30 PM Arizona MST (UTC-7) / 10:30 PM Eastern (EDT) (the "Start").
The Hunt ends at the earlier of: (a) the moment Sponsor confirms the third winner under section 7, or (b) Fri, Dec 11, 2026, at 11:59 PM Arizona MST (UTC-7) / Sat, Dec 12, 2026, at 1:59 AM Eastern (EST) (the "End").
Sponsor's server clock is the official clock for every time in these rules.
4. The items
With the Be Afraid song release there are 30 artifacts and 7 pieces of lore (together, the "Items"). The Items are placed in content Sponsor publishes as part of the Be Afraid release.
Sponsor publishes that content in stages. Not every Item can be found at the Start. Every Item will be available to every eligible person from Nov 13, 2026, 7:30 PM Arizona MST (UTC-7) / 9:30 PM Eastern (EST).
People who complete an optional free step by Nov 10, 2026, at 11:59 PM Arizona MST (UTC-7) / Nov 11, 2026, at 1:59 AM Eastern (EST) can look for the remaining Items from Nov 13, 2026, 7:30 AM Arizona MST (UTC-7) / 9:30 AM Eastern (EST). Everyone else can from Nov 13, 2026, 7:30 PM Arizona MST (UTC-7) / 9:30 PM Eastern (EST). This gives eligible people who complete the step a 12-hour head start.
The optional free step is found by searching, like the Items, is open to every eligible person and costs nothing. It is not one of the 30 artifacts or 7 pieces of lore.
Sponsor keeps a master list of the 30 artifacts and 7 pieces of lore, with where each one is. That list is fixed and recorded on Thu, Oct 29, 2026, before the Start, and does not change during the Hunt.
Only the 30 artifacts and 7 pieces of lore on the master list count. Anything else you find, however interesting, does not count toward the Hunt.
5. How to enter
To enter, send one complete list of all 30 artifacts and all 7 pieces of lore through the entry form on this site. No pre-save, follow or signup is required. For each Item, give its name, where you found it, and a timestamp or screenshot reference.
Entries sent any other way, including direct messages, comments, posts or email, are not entries. Each entry's received time is the time Sponsor's server records when it has received the entry's complete text: every item's name, where it was found, and its timestamp or screenshot reference. Screenshot uploads are optional supporting evidence and never change an entry's received time. An entry counts only if its whole submission, including any uploads, then arrives and passes validation.
Anyone found using more than one account or identity to enter is not eligible. You may send more than one entry. Each entry is judged on its own, by its own received time. One prize per person and per household.
Entries must be your own work. You must not: use more than one account or identity; enter for someone else; use bots, scripts or automated tools; read, decompile or change the code, files or network traffic of any Sponsor content to find Items; or work with anyone excluded in section 2. Sponsor may disqualify anyone who does.
Sponsor is not responsible for entries that are lost, late, incomplete, garbled or not received for any reason, including technical failure.
6. How the winners are decided
This is a contest of skill. Sponsor checks entries in the order they were received against the master list. An entry is "complete and correct" when it identifies all 30 artifacts and all 7 pieces of lore on the master list and where each one was found.
- First place: the eligible person whose complete and correct entry is received first.
- Second place: the next eligible person, different from first place.
- Third place: the next eligible person, different from first and second place.
If two entries carry the same time to the second, the one logged first by Sponsor's server ranks first.
Sponsor's decisions on whether an entry is complete and correct are final.
If fewer than three people send a complete and correct entry by the End, each unclaimed place goes to the eligible person whose entry has the most correct Items at the End, counting each person's best entry. Among equal counts, the entry received first ranks higher. No person wins more than one place.
7. Winner checks and notice
Sponsor will contact each potential winner by email within 7 days of their entry. A potential winner must reply within 7 days and return, within 14 days, a signed declaration that they are eligible and followed these rules, and a completed IRS Form W-9. Where the law allows, the declaration includes permission for Sponsor to use the winner's name or handle, city and state, and any photo or video of the winner receiving the prize, to announce the result, without further payment.
If a potential winner does not reply in time, is not eligible, or did not follow these rules, they forfeit the prize and the next eligible person under the applicable ranking in section 6 moves up.
8. Prizes
- First place: $1,000 in cash, paid by Zelle, or by check mailed to the winner if the winner cannot use Zelle, within 30 days after Sponsor confirms the winner, plus a Likeness Character and a set of Signed Band Gear (both below). Approximate retail value: $1,050.
- Second place: $250 in cash, paid the same way, plus a Likeness Character and a set of Signed Band Gear. Approximate retail value: $300.
- Third place: $100 in cash, paid the same way, plus a Likeness Character and a set of Signed Band Gear. Approximate retail value: $150.
Likeness Character: a character made in the winner's likeness and added to Be Afraid content released by Sponsor, by Fri, Mar 12, 2027. Sponsor designs it from photos the winner chooses to send and decides its final look. It has no retail value and cannot be exchanged for cash. To receive it, the winner signs a short permission that lets Sponsor use their likeness and name or handle in that content and in posts about it. The winner keeps all other rights in their likeness. A winner may decline the Likeness Character and keep the cash.
Signed Band Gear: a signed band shirt with the band's legacy logo, a signed drumstick from Matt and a signed guitar pick from Nick, with an approximate retail value of $50 per set. It ships within 30 days after Sponsor confirms the winner.
Total approximate retail value of all prizes: $1,350 in cash plus three sets of Signed Band Gear worth $150 in all, for a total of $1,500.
Prizes cannot be transferred or exchanged. Sponsor may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if a listed prize becomes unavailable. Each winner is responsible for all taxes on their prize. Sponsor will issue an IRS information return (Form 1099) where the law requires one.
9. Your information
Sponsor collects the information in your entry (for example your name, email, handle and screenshots) only to run the Hunt, check eligibility, contact winners, pay prizes and meet legal duties. Sponsor does not sell it. The privacy notice explains how this site handles information.
10. General conditions
Sponsor may cancel, suspend or change the Hunt if fraud, a technical failure or anything else outside Sponsor's control harms the fairness or running of the Hunt. If that happens, Sponsor will post a notice and may award prizes among complete and correct entries received before the problem.
By entering, you agree to these rules and to Sponsor's decisions, and you agree that Sponsor, the band and their agents are not liable for any loss or injury from taking part in the Hunt or from accepting or using a prize, to the extent the law allows.
These rules are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona.
11. Winners list
